Mahashivaratri - March 2002

May the blessings of this sacred night stay with us all !!!

Mahashivaratri, the night (ratri) of the great Shiva (Mahashiva), is a sacred and auspicious night dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to the Indian lunar calendar it falls on the fourteenth day or rather night of the dark half of the month Phalguna, February / March. Shiva is considered by many the supreme Indian deity, the Mahadeva, who destroys our illusory perception of ourselves and the world, thereby leading us to the experiential understanding and certainty that there is no duality, that there is no difference between the Human and the Divine, that everything is nothing more and nothing less than pure consciousness.
